Another use of a Satanic pentacle?

Samaael (you really can't call him Hawk anymore) was lying in one at the end of part 5.

Pentacles are not satanist!

They are pagan, which, non-christian as it is, is not anti-christian. I found this annoying.

I believe he was lying on an inverted pentagram... which is the symbol of Satanism.

reply

Yeah, pointing up is pagan but pointing down is satanist.

the inverted pentacle is not a satanic derived symbol. if you wanna get technical, the satanic symbol would be the baphomet sigil (the inverted pentacle WITH the goat's head in it, surrounded by hebrew writing spelling out 'leviathan'), which was created by the satanic church's founding father anton laVey and is the trademark symbol of satanism.

the inverted pentacle represents the left hand path and sexual energies, and not all those who follow the left hand path are satanist nor does the left hand path represent satanism. i happen to be one who walks the left hand path and bears the inverted pentacle upon my flesh, however i am not a satanist.

though the inverted pentacle is used in satanic ritual, so is the regular pentacle - representing earth energies, which to the satanist are just as important as the energies the inverted pentacle represents.

and concerning the use of pentacle's in the media, it isn't that they necessarily misuse them, it's that the public misinterprets them by forever associating them with whatever form they were displayed in without further study, which to a generally ignorant-based society, isn't surprising.

What gets me down is that these idiots who think they are satanists are pretty much following a standard Christian path.

It's kind of like how in 30 years we will discover that Coke and Pepsi are owned by the same company......imagine how much fun that would be.

obviously none of the above is true, and whatever you believe in is 100% true, and everyone else is wrong.

It's obvious niether of you knows anything about pentagrams or Satanism. The truth is the pentagram doesn't need to be up or down or sideways to be used for "evil". The only thing Satanists need to invert are crosses. And that's a purely Christian issue.

Pentagrams are used for many rituals and magiks including some Christian ones.

reply

I thought an upside down Crucifix was Satanism. Or is it both?

reply

nah. an inverted crucifix or cross is just anti-christian, but that doesn't make it satanist.

reply

Actually, it had nothing whatsoever to do with anti-Christianity to begin with. It is the Cross of St. Peter. The most widely held belief is that it looks like that, because Peter didn't feel he was worthy of being crucified the same way Jesus was.

So, in fact, it is a devoutly Christian symbol.

It's just been taken to be anti-Christian, because of it being an "inverted crucifix".

Ok people I think that you are forgetting what this really is, a TV serie, don't forget that, if they use a pentacle, upside down or not, is not really importatn, the only thing they are trying to show here is a symbol that have been use, better say, a symbol that mostly everybody will interprete it as a satanic symbol. Let's remember that alot of the symbols use today as satanic are just pagan symbols that the catholic church told alot of us that they are not cristian, and not been christian they are "bad".
Any who, as a tv series, I think it's good, I like it alot, and the most importat thing with it, is that the future of the Earth lease on humans. That we can change all the evil going on in this planet.

It's not quite that simple, pentagrams are not just used in the religion of satanism, but is also used in other beliefs as in wiccan arts and other as a protection simbol. If history doesnt tricks me, the pentagram was used first as a protection simbol against evil in old history (medieval times) but that caused a problem for the catholics of those times because for a catholic the only simbol of protection against evil is the cross, that been said they considered every other simbols has anti-catholic making it satanic (easiest way to explain anti-catholic in those times); just like fast music, since it didn't had heavenly lyrics and was way to fast, it was considered satanic.

Since satanics need it a simbol to represent them they took advantage of the old beliefs of the pentagram and put the image of a goat in the center so that it wouldn't be confused with the other pentagrams. As for the inverted cross, well the easiest way to say ANTI is to invert something, ie. inverted positive (anti-positive) is negative, inverted white (anti white) is black, etc. As far as I know there is no actual historic simbol for satanic, but I might be wrong, need to study more about the subject.

Now why it bothers other people well for a follower of the other arts (good arts in this case) they feel insulted by the use of the pentagram because everytime a writer wants to talk about satan they use it, insulting other beliefs and arts that are not satanic and don't wish to be. The religius that are ignorants in the subject like to call everybody that uses a pentacle satanic without knowing the real meaning and TV helps make it worst by giving miss conceptions, remember people believe what they watch in TV specially when it is about religion and even worst when they are ignorants on a subject. It's easier to believe what is in TV than to actually look for it and read about it.

Just in case am a catholic that has read about other things because I am with the belief that you can't be something without knowing what the other is and why one calls evil the other, some wars have happened in the past just because one didn't know why the other did what they did and how the did it.

ok, first, I'm a pagan and what you all say is absolutely true, why? because symbols have meanings depending of whatever you want them to mean. some satanist, pagans (which, by the way are NOT the same), masons, wiccans ETC. they all use the pentacle (it's a pentagram when it has no circle arround it) for one reason or another, and, you know what? who cares.
second: the thing is that this was an awesome series, allthough the end was pretty lame. it puts some issues up front, but it's just a series... "mini" series.
third: making this an excuse to have a discussion about religion is a waste of time: if you want to discuss religion, talk about what you see in the news, about what happens in the middle east, the intolerance, the fear that it's taking over the whole world, wars, holy wars, the decay of some religions, biggitery, but please, show some intelligence and don't hide in a meaningless, "make belive" tv series so you don't have to question yourselves and your own leaders, both religious and politicall.

reply

I agree with you it was a great "mini" series.

About the "make believe" well it sux but it happens (not with me but yes with mostly everybody else), just ask my gramma or any other old person and they will say, "I saw it on TV and it was right" or "thats bad because I saw it on TV". You can also ask the young adults (from 21 years to 30 years old) if they are scared of going to the beach because of sharks and 70% will say yes and from the 70%, 60% of them will say because shark eats people and that they got scared since the day they saw the movie Jaws, I even have a friend that actually stopped going to the beach the day she saw Jaws. So movies do make "lazy" ignorants (people that don't like to read or learn) believe things that are not true.

As for me, about 10 years ago I thought that all pentacle was satanic until I made a research and saw that it was a protection simbol. I explained it to alot of people and after 10 years they still think I am wrong because they saw and keep watching the opposite on TV and don't want to open a book or search the internet.

I can actually make a list of what people thinks is correct because they saw it on TV, if you would like to hear the list, start a new thread and I'll gladly write all the stuff. If you do, write me a PM so I can find the thread :)

I didn't intended my post to be a religius discussion, if it seems that way then I apologise. As well as the last paragraph, if you do a thread of religius discussion I would be more than happy to post all kinds of things, even against my own religion.
