Maybe I missed this! The deceased daughter was Massey's biological kid. Hawk was his stepson. Who was Hawk living with then because the devil worshipers took him to see his birth mother? Then the other mother acted like she didn't care that he was gone. I am so lost.

I might have gotten it wrong, but I think the woman Hawk lives with is his birth mother AND the woman the devil worshipers take him to see. When they do that, we can only see her from a far distance, so ok, she's not at home but that doesn't mean she's not worrying. Maybe just trying to set her mind off things by taking a walk with her new husband? I think that the worshipers were just brainwashing him into being angry and more susceptible to their purposes.
