I can not watch this movie living in US, hopefully I will when DVD will be available... I was the one who had chance to see Lubimov'd masterpiece and asking if anybody agree with me and how this movie correlate with Taganka's play?
shareI saw the Lyubimov adaption in Taganka in Moscow. Masterpiece, I agree. As far as I know it has never been taped but it might be worth, what do you think? If I look at the cast I think there's no correlation with Bortko's movie or series. M&M will be always the Russian desire to produce the novel or the play or anything.
shareIf you have access to using Bittorrent, there are sites you can find the episodes on to download as .avi files. I'm also in the US and desparately wanted to see the mini-series, and thanks to BT I was able to follow it as each episode aired.
I've been wanting to see a play adaptation of tMaM, but as of yet I haven't seen one anywhere. Is there a recording of this play you are talking about?

i heard that no one can beat the play on taganka and that no woland will equal smehovs, but i thought that this mini was amzingly cast by talent instead of type, basilashvili is too old to be woland but performed phenomely, true the first 6 episodes are weak, but the final three are amzing specifically starting with the post ball dinner, yeshua is played by an amzing actor and so is pilate however also a bit old, margarita was cast wrong but proved to be a great actress towards the end, and most every oen esle was perfect. tagankas play was only excerpts from the novel, this is the whole novel, almost word for word in dialogue, with focus on the dialogue not necisseraly on the scenery or special effects.
shareIt was a while since I wrote this message. Since then I could be able to watch the movie (the friend was bringing DVD). I could say that these are just two different animals (mini-series and Lubimov's play). I think even the movie is very different, it is very good!
