This could've been great

Just saw it om Netflix. I love historic films, so seeing it was a no-brainer. Unfortunately, that was also the case with this series. The basic plot was alright, but they should have made it completely fictional, with fictional names and in a fictional country, because what's correct in this series is three things: Julius Caesar was in fact murdered, Octavian did indeed become "emperor" (though it wasn't his title), and most names was correct and belonged to actual living people. THAT'S IT. 95% of this is completely fabricated and so far from the truth it's hysterical, they even had a black roman general for good measure. There were good moments though, like the acting from some, not all, actors like Colm Feore and Emily Blunt.

This is sort of the same as the Emperor novels by Conn Iggulden, a highly fictionalized series about Caesar's life. But even those books didn't take as much liberties, I'll bet.

I lost it when they went to the slave dungeons of ARKHAM. Someone was a Batman fan.

The best thing about this movie was Emily Blunt.

Movie was still enjoyable. I pretty much saw it as a fictional story for the most part.

I <3 Emily Blunt
