At some point during the filming, Oprah Winfrey and camera crew paid a visit to Colonial House and came in character. Oprah's website mentions it and she had either a whole program or a segment on in on her show (missed it). I understand why this was left out of Colonial House when it aired on PBS, but it's not on the DVD..not even in the special features.
I would like to have seen it.
It is on the Oprah DVD collect/set, 8 DVD's. It was pretty funny, her and Gail talking about going to the bathroom. Yeah, would have been nice though if they had included it with the special features (as well as current updates of where the families are/doing now.)

I'm not crazy! I remembered seeing this on t.v. a few years ago but I only saw like parts of two episodes. All I remembered was the Wyers family leaving, Danny Tisdale leaving, and Oprah coming. Then when I watched the dvds there was absolutely no Oprah anywhere to be found. I thought I was going crazy because I could have SWORN she was on there on one episode but she wasn't there on any of the dvd episodes or special features.

I remember it was on her show. She said she expected them to stink, but they smelled like smoke. I guess from the fire going almost 24/7. They had to smell up close after several months of no one bathing.
