Cosby kids?

Okay, I really like this movie. It's entertaining and fun.

But man, oh man I wish they would have put just a little more effort in making sure things in the movie were plausible for 1978!!

The "Cosby kids" reference from the Sweetwater team was ridiculous! Why did the director let stuff that was clearly an 80's references make it to the final cut of the movie?!

Annoying. Grrrrrr......

Fat Albert came out in the mid 70s.

If you're over 40 and were an avid Saturday morning TV junky, you'll remember Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. They were all poor misfit types, which is what the Sweetwater team was referring to. The director knows his stuff, as this show was very popular in the 70s.

I watched Fat Albert in the 70's. I busted out laughing when that guy said that. Funny stuff. "Okay, Cosby Kids..." LOL

No, it's obvious that the reference was--as stated by previous posters--alluding to Fat Albert.

The first Fat Albert special was in 1969 and the show ran from 1972–1985. So yeah this movie did get it right.
