I have to say I love how this movie was made to take place in the 70's. You can kind of vision how things were in the 70's and their way of dressing. The music helps to. That is how I feel about the Wedding Singer their theme was the 80's and you can vision yourself through the 80's.

Being born in 1965, I was around when Roller Skating was popular in the 70`s & early 80`s and there were dedicated places just for it.This Movie brings back those memories, and the main characters are around the same age I was.Love the Movie and Music...I still love 70`s and 80`s music and listen often.
They pretty much have everything correct in this film. I used to roller skate all the time when "roller disco" was in style. It hit its peak from 1979 to 1980. Even the movie stars were skating, and there will some corny " roller disco' films being made back then like "Roller Boogie".

There still are places dedicated to Roller Skating, in many cities in the South anyway.
And at least once a week is "old school night" with all that great music.
