Were the dogs really killed?

If anyone knows, please let me know.

in the novel, yes they did get killed, in the movie they did get killed, in real life which the novel is based on a true story, no idea, but its safe to say they didnt get killed for real in the movie!

sometimes in movies, if they want an animal to fall they'll inject the animal with something like sleeping stuff or something that makes the dog go numb and in the leg for a while, which is absolutley safe! and of course they get a professional to inject the dog and stuff

yeah... I watched this on tellie (SBS) last night- and thought the exact same thing. It looked like the dogs were really shot- either that or excellent camera work (I hope the latter!)....

Don't worry, they weren't killed. I watched the movie last night on sbs also, was a brilliant film.

Remember they have to abide by the cruelty to animals rules.

It was just very well shot. I felt like crying when watching that scene though.

Hi lectro: re: cruelty to animals in film....

alot of countries have different rules e.g consider them killing the donkey in manderlay- that was legal (yet immoral)?!...

i felt like crying in that scene aswell- very sad stuff

maybe so, but I seriously doubt that they would do that in Denmark...

De placerede nogle poser på hundene, som eksplodere, og som gav hundene et lille "sæt" samtidigt. De kom overhovedet ikke til skade.

Directly translated:

They placed a couple of bags on the dogs, which exploded, and gave the dogs a little shock at the same time. They weren't hurt at all.

I haven't watched this movie yet, but in another movie I've seen where it appeared that dogs were shot they actually used tripwires to make them fall and roll around a little...

I honestly can't believe that anybody could think that in this day and age. Of course they were not killed. If you know just a little about film making, you would know that they either use CGI or special effects combined with clever cutting, so it looks like the animal dies.

Come on people. Stop being so stupid!
