Please tell me there was a vastly different ending in the book

and that this was just the screenwriter or producer depiction of how he thought it was going to go, I was already disappointed with the conclusion of Svetlana's curse that she put her on herself, how terribly lame!

....I mean, the kid falls for Zavulon's little rehearsed game ending that he did using the character from Tekken 10,000 times which the director/editor decided to allude back to 4 different times for some reason completely forgetting that he saved him from the 'gloom' when he was all ready and Olga was ready to give up on him....
and the extended scene to make it seem like a dream whilst floating outside his son's window, WTF?!

Yes, the book was vastly different. The kid wasn't Anton's son, for example, and wasn't actually the *main* target of Zavulon's scheme. Svetlana's curse is outlined vaguely correct in the movie... with the emphasis on "vaguely". In the book it is explained much more detailed and logical.

The extended scene isn't a dream, for that matter.
