Carmen song NOOOO

AGGGHHHH. I absolutely love the music from Bizet's "Carmen"...why would they do something like this?????? Sure she "finds herself" or whatever you want to call that...but why with Carmen music melded into a horrible, typical pop song?? It's even worse than Carolina Kostner's music at 2004 World Figure Skating Championships...Mulan song melded into Turandot. ::runs and hides:: Sorry, just ranting there.

I don't know how anyone can *not* cringe at that ending. If a girl ever did that in real life, I know I wouldn't give her a standing ovation. I'd be running for the exit or running to get her off stage. Quickly. Then again, it's just like all the other movies, like "Save the Last Dance," where Julia Stiles does that awful dance number supposedly filled with "attitude" (where she just looks completely blank and expressionless and just manages to show that she/her character can't even go down into a full split) and the people are enjoying it. Urgh.

Though I must say, the movie was strangely addicting. Which is why I watched it to the friggin' end and saw that terribly unfortunate ending.

But why is the rum gone?!

Oh, I know, I know. I couldn't possibly agree more. Had this been real, no one at Harverty would have given her a standing ovation. I was speechless when that part came on. I was with a friend, and she was speechless, too. Finally, she just said, "Oh, I know they didn't." And I just said, "They did."

I didn't think the acting was all that bad in this movie, but everything else was horrifying. It was like watching a train wreck. And what was Virginia Madsen thinking?

Agh, it was so terrible I couldn't stop watching it LOL. And they just had to incorporate some of Britney into that song. Why?? She's already everywhere! Oh yeah, but she needs to have a part in the ending. So let's just turn "Habanera" from "Carmen" into a horrible pop song that will try to be inspirational. ::scowls::

But why is the rum gone?!

I HAVE TO AGREE THAT THE BASTARDIZATION OF "CARMEN" IS SOMETHING UNACCEPTABLE, BUT LET US REMEMBER THAT THIS IS ONLY A MOVIE.

THIS IS NOT DEFENDING WHAT THEY WERE THINKING, BUT CONSIDERING THAT MODERN FANS OF MUSIC, TEENS ESPECIALLY, COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT GRAND THINGS LIKE OPERA, YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT THE FACTS IN THIS CASE THAT THIS WAS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND
BRITNEY'S FANS, AND MOVE ON.

reply

Yes that's a very good point, but if they have a sequel, what song are they going to butcher next?! LOL.

But why is the rum gone?!

reply

YES, THAT IS A VERY GOOD POINT AS WELL, AND CONSIDERING THE MENTALITY, THEY WOULD BE PROBABLY BE THAT DUMB, AND WANT TO MAKE A SEQUEL.

NOT THAT THIS MOVIE ISN'T A GOOD WASTE OF TIME, ESPECIALLY WITH VIRGINIA MADSEN ON BOARD, BUT A SEQUEL ???

MAYBE WE SHOULD READ THE BOOK, AND SEE HOW MUCH MATERIAL IS THERE TO MAKE A SEQUEL.

IN ANY EVENT, AS TO WHAT DAMAGE THEY COULD TO ANOTHER MUSICAL GENRE, THAT WOULD BE HARD TO PREDICT.

THAT IS, UNLESS, ONE WILLIAM HUNG DOES A CAMEO !!!

BUT THEN, LET'S NOT GIVE THEM ANY SUGGESTIONS !!!

LOL !!!

reply

LOL. If William Hung ever attempted to sing a classic...

I would die. Of horror. ::cries::

But why is the rum gone?!

WHY IS THE RUM GONE ??

WHO KILLED KENNEDY ??

WHY DID VIRGINIA MADSEN GET SCREWED OUT OF A DECENT CAREER ??

ESPECIALLY VIRGINIA MADSEN, THAT IS MY WORRY.

HEY, I KNOW...

MAYBE THEY NEEDED SOME ADDED INSPIRATION, AND DRANK IT ALL.

FOR ALL I KNOW, IT PROBABLY HELPED.

What really pisses me off is that most of the people who watch this movie have never heard Opera and after seeing this movie and how it can be turned into a "cool rock song" they are suddenly facinated. I guess it's good to expose more young people to classical, but I wish it wasn't done through poorly made movies and pop singers with no classical training. Our society is becoming less and less cultured with every generation and it's kind of sad.
