and this is based on her book...which is how many years old?! So raise your voice is a complete scam.

Brave New Girl was so much better than Raise Your Voice. That movie had no morals, bad singing, and it was just a mess. Brave New Girl was kinda cheesy, but at least it was done well.

reply

WRONG! Raise your voice taught morals, had good singing (as teen singers go) and well done for that sort of movie. It was know blockbuster for sure, but it wasn't a TV movie. Whatever, it isn't necessary to put down one to praise the other.

Under our clothes, we are all naked! But only bare nipples (of mature females), genitals or buttocks constitute nudity, not bare shoulder, legs, stomachs or cleavage, nor a male's bare chest.

This movie was based on Britney Spears' book, not Hilary Duff's.

reply

It kind of reminded me of "Legally Blonde".

isn't there also another family one? yes, but raise ur voice is a little different. A mother's gift is by britney, and Holly was adopted etc.

reply

okay this movie is almost identical to raise your voice..

I think I'll try defying gravity

"If you're a bird, I'm a bird."

Same thing, but actually very very different. The entire story, the family, the end, the songs, britney and lynne spears, Holly was adopted and Terri had her family, but her brother died.

reply

YES!! Very much!! Totally agree

reply

I agree ;)

I agree with the fact that Raise your Voice is a total scam off of Brave New Girl, but you have to admit there are some very key differences:

1. Terri lost her brother, whom she was very close to. Holly lost no one, unless you count her dad.
2. Holly was dealing more with not fitting in. Angela gave her a really hard time. It was more external conflict than internal conflict. Terri had to deal more with guilt and realizing that the car crash wasn't her fault. It was more internal conflict than anything.
3. Terri had to lie about where she was from her dad, whearas Holly had to live with her mom.

But I have to admit, though, the first time I saw Raise your Voice the first thing that came to mind is "This is just like brave new girl,"

I live off of music notes, g clefs, bass clefs, rests, slurs, and crecendos.

When 'Raise Your Voice' first came out I actually refused to see it because of it's likeness to 'Brave New Girl', which I love, but Hollywood is like that. It seems to me that everything on ABC Family somehow ends up as a big screen movie scam. Like that other movie, I can't remember what it was called, but two adults meet and marry on vacation, they both had children and it just reminded me a lot of 'Yours Mine and Ours' but from what I saw (I didn't finish YM&O) the ABC Family movie seemed to be more dramatic, with the step-daughter's disdain for her new step-mother and such.

reply

i totally agree, but the Raise Your Voice's story is so much better, it made me cry... that's what i think

reply

Brave New Girl was an okay movie, but Raise Your Voice was so much better. It had way more character development and the issues were a lot more clearly explained. If the elements in the plot of Brave New Girl had more time to unfold, and there would have been more detail in some sections, it would have been a lot better.
