Will Leo comeback for this?

I know he's really busy, and probably too big to do a TV movie, but it would be nice if he showed up for a cameo. Growing Pains did give him his start, and it would be nice if he would pay them back a little. They would easily get a couple of million extra viewers if only he would show up.

We should start a petition saying that if they do make another movie(3), Leo HAS to be in it.

Those who can count and those who can't.

I remember seeing the Growing Pains cast on "Entertainment Tonight" and they said that Leo was not asked to be in it but that in one scene there is a mention of him. Something like, "Well, I want to see a Leonardo DiCaprio movie."

Spoilers:

The thing about Leo in the Movie is:

Mike finds his old leather jacket, and he tries to give it to his daughter but she's like " No thanks dad. I's not like Leonardo Dicaprio wore it or anything." Which is pretty funny because he did.

I don't remember seeing the 1st reunion movie. Did they explain what happened to Luke in it?

They did not approach him, but chances are he would not do it and they would not ask him ever because he was fired from the show. I think this is the funny part, they fired him because they did not think he was a good enough actor yet I thought he did great job in it and got people watching the show again. But that is my opinion. The series itself does explain that he went off with his real father and they buy a restaurant and take care of the place.

reply

Cincere Tiger07 was the jacket that mike tried to give his daughter the blue and brown jacket that Luke wore 2 or 3 times in the season

reply

Wait. He was fired? I thought that they just wanted to focus the last few episodes on the family. Also, what episodes did he wear the jacket? I must have missed it.

reply

Yeah i don't think he got fired either, i think that they were just trying to wrap up loose end story lines and getting a "happy ending" for Luke since they knew the were canceling the show due to poor ratings. Having Luke back with his dad was a way to concentrate more on the family. I personally think that was stupid of them i never really liked the idea of Luke leaving and going away with his dad he didn't seem to connect with him anyways.

In the first renion movie there is a part when Jason is talking about Celin Dion and Titanic

Jason: "Don't get me wrong, I thought Celin was the best part of that Titanic movie and I LIKED THE BOY WITH THE BLUE LIPS...when she sings..." the boy with the blue lips...of course Leo when he is freezing to death in Titanic lol

reply

well, looks like Leo WAS featured in both GP movies after all...just not in the way we had all hoped.

i agree with what most people are saying about Leo. a huge A-list star doesn't do TV movies, but a cameo would have been nice to reunite the cast and bring leo back to his acting roots. and he certainly would have brought a LOT of viewers to the GP movies.

This is not my signature.

reply

Agreed. Exactly.

He wasn't fired. They let him go to tie up loose ends on the show, to be able to focus on the Seavers only for the end of the series, and because he got written out of the story. it happens a LOT in big series.

No, but he was mentioned.

Leo was not fired. In an interview on youtube he give last year he explained what happened.

Everyone knew the show was ending. Originally Leo#s character Luke was going to continue living with the Seavers. But Leo was offered the role in This Boys Life. Problem - The movie started filming several weeks before Growing Pains ended.

Everyone knew that this was Leo's big break and since the show was going to end anyway they all decided to write Leo out early so that he would be able to make the movie. If they hadn't let him out of his contract Leo would not have been able to make the film.

But Leo was popular and everyone in the cast and crew liked him. So they changed the storyline and had his father come back and collect him. Leo is still friends with some of the cast of G.P. and with Alan Thicks son. That would not be the case if he was fired.
