In the full credits it lists a second unit "New Zealand" what part of the film
(if any) was filmed in NZ ?

I was wondering the same thing, since the production was based in Winnipeg with outdoor sequences & cinematography over in Whitehorse, Yukon, with a lot shot at the summit of the White Pass along the border of Alaska and British Columbia, not far from Skagway.
The second unit of a film is the crew that is responsible for shooting supplementary footage, including establishing shots, stunts, inserts, and cutaways. I have no idea what was necessary to shoot in freakin' New Zealand.
