started out really well, but became the 'worst of david e kelley'

this show started out really well, even great, but as it went on it became the worst of david e. kelley. it really showcased his worst excesses and horrible tropes

I'm taking my talents to South Beach.

While this show had it's moments, sometimes in excess, of driving the left wing...I don't see how this was his worst. In fact, I believe this to be his best. The Practice I found it took itself too seriously, and Ally Mc. not seriously enough. This show was great, contrite blend, and while I know this posting won't change your thought nor would I expect it to, I agree to disagree. Also, at the end of the day it had James Spader and Bill Shatner at their finest.

I think Shatner was actually at his best in The Brothers Karamazov, but that's probably a matter of taste. Hands down, the first year of Chicago Hope was Kelley's best, IMHO. The writing was just amazing. Then he orphaned it for Ally McBeal, and it was downhill from there. Again, all just my opinion.

But was this honestly Spader's best? I don't know. Please make the case for it.

Dang. I just looked at the date of your post, so there's probably little chance I'll hear back from you. Too bad. I sometimes think Spader could have been one of the greats but for some bad decisions on the roles he took. Then I think he took the roles he did because he knew his own limitations. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I disagree. The relationship between the two leads is better than all his other stuff put together.
CLever and fun

Enjoyed The Practice, but loved Boston Legal. Politically at the time I was a Republican, and my husband a staunch Republican, but it didn't matter...we both loved Alan and Denny ( more specifically Spader's and Shatner's performances.) Loved the combination of silly and dark in most episodes, and how they flawlessly navigated the two extremes.

to goofy..The way Alan and DEnny were portrayed in The Practice was much better.
