Fran broke up with Riley in the second to last episode of the series. In the final episode, they were both at Fran's cousin's engagement party where Riley threatened Ted not to hurt Fran again. In so doing, it forced the truth out that Fran really hadn't gotten back together with Ted, it was just a ploy to show Riley she'd moved on.
At the end of the episode, Riley kissed her and she invited him back to her house and to move in with her again but Riley said he didn't want to go back to the way things were and asked Fran to marry him.
Sadly, that is where the series ended. :( I know it wasn't hugely popular (though it did have a decent audience) and while it wasn't the best show ever, it was a lot of fun and an enjoyable way to spend a half hour. I know the show won't ever be back, it'd be great if they did a one-off just to show the wedding and "happily ever after" sort of finish for those of us who did care about the show.
