Thank goodness this show has a laugh track...

Otherwise, I would never have known when it was time to laugh. Just TiVO'd and watched this show for the first time (Shaunessy from The Nanny was guesting). Big fan of the Nanny, with its great supporting case (esp. butler and asst.) ... this show was not funny at all...

Ugh.. how can you say that? I HATE laugh tracks with a burning passion. you don't hear all of dialogue because of the laughing, it cuts off time for the show because they play the laugh track for a LONG time, it isjust outright anoying, and it wounds stupidand takes themomentum out of the show.

I think you missed the point of his comment.

Yeah, I also thought this was a pretty bad show that failed to make me laugh.

In the first place, I didn't like that Riley character. It felt like he should be in a Calvin Klein ad instead of doing a decent sitcom.

But I did laugh when Charles Shaughnessy (Mr Sheffield/Ted) was guesting... even without the laugh track. That takes a lot of comedic skill to do that, not to mention he and Fran have amazing chemistry together, whereas that Riley dude was as dry as industrialized plywood.

I guess this explains why the show got canceled. Can't blame the execs on that.
