Needed a better poster / Blu Ray cover

Firstly, this is one of my all time favourite films. I absolutely adore it.

Anyhow - to me the Blu Ray cover is so out of tune with the film it's unreal.

It makes it looks like a kind of cheap adventure flick. The same goes for the poster.

The only thing I can think is they were designed in this way because someone thought it would help shift more copies / tickets. However this must have failed surely? Those looking for a cheap and easy adventure thriller would become bemused and those looking for magical cinema (such as this) could've been put off.

I know it doesn't matter that much - but maybe this could be a small factor in this films under-appreciation?

Anyone agree?

I absolutely adore the teaser poster for this film http://images.moviepostershop.com/the-new-world-movie-poster-2005-1020250024.jpg I'm glad the one on imdb got changed back to this because, yeah the other ones are pretty bad. Can't wait to see how the criterion cover will look like. They have beautiful skills when it comes to their covers. Might finally get the poster it deserves.

Yes! This! A million times this!

I bought a large set of cheap blu-rays and resold the ones that I was not interested in. The New World was one of those as the blu-ray cover made me think it was some kind of Peter Pan style adventure movie. Not my cup of tea.

It were too many movies to go check info for them all online. Now I happen to come across this film on IDMB and from what I read I am disappointed that I sold it without watching. Sounds like a wonderful film to experience and not at all what I thought based on the blu-ray cover.
Might need to go buy it again somewhere because I want to see this one after all.
