seriously?

Yea, it should have been less, but what can we do with it?

reply

I would've given it a high 9.

But that's just me.

This site is really unreliable when it comes to ratings.

This is why I tend to ignore IMDB ratings now. This film deserves so much praise and yet it hardly gets any.

I gave it an 8. I thought it was exquisite, overlong but exquisite. Good use of Wagner though, although it's a shame that only Das Rheingold was used.

Probably my favourite out of Malick's first 4 films.

I see it. You either love it or hate it.

It's like a fine wine, best enjoyed at your own leasure. For that reason I actually think many people who would have enjoyed it at the right time in their homes felt held hostage in the theater. This marked it down too.

Although I would never rate it this low I can see how the drastic high and low numbers came about.

For example I refused to see Eyes Wide Shut in the theater based on reviews although I love Kubrick. Good call. When I watched it later in my own home I loved it.

It was a time/place issue for me. Same with TOL

a film is more than cinematography and story. Colin Farrell makes this film unwatchable.

that is an idiotic comment coming from someone who just hates anything Colin Farrell is in...he was better than Bale in this one
