how did she learn

English ... I don't remember how long did he stay there at first ... but she learning so much in a short period of time IS a plot hole in this film.

Because John Smith taught her.

The film makes that crystal clear.

If you ever rewatch the film, explain to me how he taught her, pointing at a tree and saying the word tree makes sense, but the other complex words that are more abstract? what about forming sentences and grammar? how could she be taught that in a very short time that let her talk so fluently? please rewatch the film and think about this it will be so ever clear.

Because the film does not show you every waking moment. We see the few examples, then we can assume more / the rest happened. That's how stories work.

Do you really want to drag us out into hours and hours of language instruction? That doesn't make sense. You might as well asked why we don't see any of them go to the bathroom, clean their game, comb their hair more often, or build their shelters.

Be sure to proof your posts to see if you any words out

Smith was a noted fabulist.

He told several stories of being saved by princesses from several countries. Typical sailor!
