Terrible, terrible movie!
First off, I didn't know what I was getting into. In the past two weeks I watched Ben Hur, 1492, The Mission. I craved for more in the historical genre. I came across this with such expectations. Oh boy was I wrong!
This movie is classified as biography, drama, history. It should be classified as romance that makes Twilight look like a joke.
If you are looking for a movie with a historical value and greatness then ditch this movie right of the bat!
Okay, let's talk about the the good and the bad. Collin Farrel was absolutely terrible in this movie. His accent was *beep* and he was pain to watch! Most of his lines were a voiceover, mumbling under his nose, with a *beep* accent and poor articulation. The only thing he brought in for the role was his look. He looked perfect for the role, but that's it! He was walking around the whole film like guy who has an enormous hangover or whose dear just died; absolutely no energy, just walking around fatigued and looking as if he's absolutely hating bring in the movie. On top of that, his walk, the swagger. Like an idiot! Totally not fitting in the role.
Pocahontas was a delight to watch,. Her acting was interesting and I was curious what she'll do next. She was incredibly beautiful and fun and interesting to watch. While he was very handsome and incredibly boring, no character, no life, to watch! How could she fall in love so madly with such a bland guy.
Anyway, the whole movie turned into Twilight with the endless, pointless pseudo love scenes and never ending stares.
Must admit that the movie had me once emotionally really going. Thy he scene when he left her. Omg I was shattered for her. I was cursing that SOB. How could he do that to her, selfish bastard. That scene got me.
Anyway, the movie continued, continued to be terrible. No historical value. I knew it wasn't going to get any better. Then Christian Bale showed up. I saw vigour acting, articulate speech. Then I just fast forwarded towards the end.
