WORST MOVIE EVER!!!!!

Well thats my own opinon!! i couldn't make head or tails over it

reply

thats coz you dont understand it

reply

Well, I understand it and I found the editing to be poor and the content rather stupid. Fortunately, I saw it on DVD, which had Extra Features including an alternate ending. The alternate ending was actually a continuation of the movie that put things in a more reasonable perspective and confirmed my interpretation. The alternate ending gave a view of what Harlan Pyle had experienced. If it had been used as the actual ending I would have had a more positive opinion of the movie.

Then go watch "When a stranger calls", you'll change your mind.

Wow your not very bright

This movie was brilliant!

reply

I agree this movie was simply one of 'THE BEST THRILLERS' I have seen in years. Worst Film Ever?..... You should stick to playing video games and leave film reviews to people who understand the medium.

reply

i really enjoyed the film, except for the ending. one of the most unoriginal endings i have ever seen. I'm starting to get pissed off with horror movies where its all in their mind and certain events never happened. its like an easy way to end a picture. Another example would be dead end. great film except the ending is alike on so many levels. the easy way out. overall the film was not scary but intense yes and i enjoyed it.

reply

I kind of enjoyed it. Awkward at times, with crappy acting, and from the moment that the guy arrived at the cabin straight from his coma (after we see her having "separation from reality" phenomenon earlier) I could smell the ending. And the last fifteen minutes were painful torture. But it's not the worst movie ever, not by a long shot.

In its favour: the film took a handful of actors, maybe two sets, no special effects, and managed to make a moody, creepy, yucky story. I agree with stuman94 tht it was "not scary but intense" and I must confess that overall I too enjoyed it, but with reservations. The screenwriter didn't give a damn about his characters, though, and the lack of concern made my own investment with them very small.

It think it could have been much, much better with a little retooling. Maybe bring in a story doctor to fix the script? It could have all been shot much the same way, with just a more cogent storyline, especially as it unravels near the end.

reply

it's a bad movie...
i don't know it's somehow like every other movie in this spirit
didn't see something samrt or original there

reply

OMFG

nothing smart or original?

the movie is brilliant and IS a totaly brain-job-movie.

the reason you people don't like it is because you don't think.
the ending is just superb.
the messages to explain the story are very well hidden and it is a pleasure to find them out.

go watch team america if you're a brain-dead!

I agree, not a good film. The main character -Sam- was just so unlikeable, I couldn't have cared less about what happened to her. I'm all for tension and suspense, but I felt none here, sorry. Plus, I saw the end coming a mile away, so no surprise there either. Too bad.

reply

This is a really bad film. The first five minutes were ok i guess but it just got worse and worse. The fact that people on here are falling over themselves praising it is just sad.And please don't insult me by telling me i didn't understand it.Compared to this junk like CABIN FEVER and BOOGEY MAN are masterpieces.Total crap.

reply

Well NELLY,cabin fever was a MASTERPIECE!!simply put.Just putting your 2 cents in ?? Nothing better to do than look up who's writing about THE DARK HOURS? Who's sad?

P.S. You don't understand it

reply

"I agree, not a good film. The main character -Sam- was just so unlikeable, I couldn't have cared less about what happened to her."

I'm not sure "liking her" was the point. She reminded me a lot of the women in so many of Hitchcock's films -- has her share of issues but you still wind up rooting for her anyway.

I really do not get the antagonism towards this movie. All horror fans do is bitch about remakes of older horror movies, but when someone comes along and does something relatively original and intelligent (and, IMHO, quite well done), everybody breaks out into choruses of "worst movie ever."

You're absolutely right, everyone who hates this movie is a complete. HOW DARE PEOPLE HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION THAN YOU!

reply

this is the worst movie ever!!!!!!!!!! this movie sucks big time!!! DON'T SEE IT!!!

reply

The ending is trash and as someone else mentioned, an easy way out.

There are plenty of better thought provoking films out there and honestly just by surfing through the forums here I can tell its littered with psuedo-intellectuals.. The same kind of psuedo-intellectuals that the 2001: A Space Odyssey forums attracts, but here their worse at spelling and make numerous grammatical errors like a teenager.

If you truly believe this movie is brilliant and a "totaly (totally*) brain-job-movie" then I'd advise hopping under a train. Peace.

reply

I find it funny you call him stupid yet you can't discern the different between "your" and "you're".

reply

I was going to say the exact same thing. I'm glad I read the rest of this thread before doing so.

What's there not to understand? She has a tumor, she is estranged from her husband. She feels guilty for testing an experimental drug on a patient which she was also taking herself. In her head she frees herself by fantasizing about killing her husband and her sister who she believes are having an affair.

She didnt cut off her own finger
She didnt kill the dog
She didnt kill her husband
She didnt kill her sister

She got a small cut on her finger in the bathroom and collapsed.

Most of this movie takes place in her head.

Worst Movie ever!!!!

God people piss me off, if you cant think of anything halfway constructive to say about a movie then dont bother posting, was this really the worst movie you ever saw or do you just lack the ability to express any of the reasons why you dislike the film, hey maybe your just lazy.

Yours Sincerly Sick of Stupidity!!!

I just finished watching this movie, and I have to say (with the authority of my Canadian ancestry), that I was surprised at how I managed to sit through an entire Canadian horror film. I liked the open ending, because even though it does seem like the easy way out, it kept you thinking even after the movie ended. Feel free to try and prove otherwise, you ARE here, reading this. However the reason I wrote this was not to comment on the movie, rather to comment on the persons writing that they did not enjoy watching it. If you did not like the movie, it would be wise to compliment your ranting with some information on WHY. Otherwise your rant is pointless drivel that nobody with a bit of common sense is going to give any serious thought. And thus you have wasted another several minutes of your life being an ass. Spelling, grammar and punctuation are also important when trying to get a point across using the written word. If you are, basically illiterate, which many of the ranters on the internet seem to be, I suggest you brush up on your use of the english written language before attempting to sound intelligent through writing.

it's funny, usually in these "worst movie ever" threads (and there's pretty much one in every film's forum on here) i'm with the people that say "well you just didn't get it" and then insult the intelligence of those who disliked the film.

but i just watched this and it really wasn't anything special, sure i've seen much worse. but anyone that touts this as a brilliant thriller is fooling themselves. I pretty much figured that it was all in her head about 10 minutes or less into the movie, the acting varied in strength, the ending was a muddled mess and totally didn't work for me. I agree with whoever said they're sick of these "it was all in their head" movies, would have given the film a lot more emotional impact to just followthrough with the initial reality that we are presented with.

reply

I'll agree that it wasn't the best of the genre, but I did like the way the reality was layered; first you realize/think the psycho is her, then it starts to dawn on you that even that's not real.
I can see it playing out as predictable if you figure out that it's all in her head right from the first cut pinky, but my wife and I took it at face value until it became more obvious and so we got a little more bang for our buck.
Worth the rental.

I thought this movie was great.

Unlike most horror/thrillers, the movie is realistic - Doctor with brain tumour tets experimental drug on one of her patients and puts him into a coma. As a result of taking the drug herself and her tumour, she begins to hallucinate. She catches her husband banging her sister and in a fit of rage kills them both, shoots the dog, and puts herself into a coma. The idea that you might read an article in the paper to that effect makes the movie much more disturbing.

The sense of helplessness and terror was well done. It's easier to imagine two people invading someone's home and playing sick games with them than the idea of a supernatural serial killer (most movie killers ARE supernatural - super strong, REAL hard to kill, they never tire, etc.)

The violence was truly disturbing. Violence in most movies is cartoon violence. It's accompanied by music, people perform balletic moves while killing each other, they deliver clever one-liners, etc. In this movie the acts of brutal violence and the responses of the characters are raw and brutal, without hollywood glamourization.

On another level, the movie is about morality. Each character is evil in their own way. Harlan raped and butchered a teenage boy. Sam found someone she could experiment on to save herself. Dave and Melody had an affair behind a dying wifes back while she supported them both. Is any of them a human being? "I guess that depends on your definition."

Well that's it. I thought this movie provided a real sense of terror and claustrophobia, coupled with some grisly gore and even a little philosophy. I was disturbed by it. The best movies stay with you after you've watched them.

yess yess yess......Rorix2,exactly!

thats very unfortunate maybe you need to watch it again and concentrate
more, we all start answering the phone, cook , talk through it etc and miss out ,so try concentrating youll get it i'm sure.
i did enjoy this film and i wasn't concentrating, i'v seen some thinking films in the past and cant understand them this was good I must admit, probably cause of the writer having done such a good job!
