The book or movie?

Just wondering what the major differences between the book and the movie are? I've never read the book and am curious?

In the book, the kids are about twelve years old. Also, Barry isn't very romantic, he's just obnoxius.

I can't really remember much of the book, it's been a few years since I read it, but I reckon the book is better.
