On Delta

Has anybody actually taken into consideration that Delta cannot act. Cannot act at all. Sure she was sick but so what, she still cannot act. Her appearances on Neighbours was a standout, in a show mostly full of people that cannot act, of non-acting.

This movie confirms your point!!

And I suppose you can act better than her?? Give her a break...she doesn't need people like you to tell her if she is good or bad.

reply

What I never seem to understand about people, and I should take your lead and use 'people like you', is that you don't seem to understand that celebrities such as Delta Goodrem are in the public eye, hence they will always be judged more harshly than you or I. This is the public's right, and the celebrity would have been well aware that this would always come with being famous. Anyone who has seen or heard Delta is entitled to comment on whether they feel she is good or bad. Being an entertainer is her JOB, and so is taking any compliments and criticisms with equanimity.

I don't agree with having an opinion on a celebrity's personal life and using this to trash them, although to a certain extent, since they in the public eye and have chosen to do things which may be interpreted as morally questionable (eg. Delta and Brian McFadden, and the whole relationship issue with his former wife), people should be entitled to an opinion. But as far as singing, acting and songwriting, it's what Delta does. She doesn't deserve a break. She deserves to be criticised if she does not put on a good performance.

reply

Oh bentpen I LOVE you!!!! Finally someone with some sense... Natty - I hope you take these comments on board, bentpen is right - it is Delta's choice to place herself in the public eye, and we are the public are entitled to comment on her "performance" (lol).

If I performed my job as poorly as Delta acted in HAA, my performance would certainly be commented on by my boss and in my appraisals!!!! If I showed as little understanding of my work and the job I was supposed to fulfill as Miss Goodrem showed as Alison then I would be SACKED - and rightly so...

Well, that's the thing about people - they can't understand everything.
I mean, I can't understand why you can't understand that people don't understand that celebrities such as Delta are in the public eye...
I realise this could go on.

I thought Delta did an ok job, but the real standout performance was Saskia Burmeister as Erika Yurken. I can't wait to see more of her. She's got tv movie coming soon called Glenmore JOb and a movie called The Jammed, which sounds pretty cool.

reply

Saskia did a really awesome job. I admit I orginally watched this movie because I'm such a huge fan of Delta Goodrem. I'm a director myself (just theatre) and I think what her problem is is that she isn't seperating herself from her character. She's being Delta Goodrem playing Alison Ashley, or Nina Tucker. So she just has to become the character more. I think she just needs more time.

reply

I watched her the entire time thinking... 'She should stick to singing' Her movements on the camera were awkward, she put little or no emotion or character into Alison, she was bland and boring, she didn't get her point across to the audience, she obviously didn't know the character that well. I bought the dvd thinking 'I know she'll probably be bad' but at the end i was ready to throw up. She's nice but she looked like a piece of cardboard with a mouth that was still reading through her lines.

I totally agree. She CAN'T ACT.
In the phone scene when she discovered Erica, she was acting like a b-tch. Alison Ashley was meant to be nice!!
The movie was OK as a movie, but as an adaption of the excellent book??
Nuh-uh

reply

I think that Delta can act, cuz how she played Alison was sort of how the character is supposed to be. And even if you are a nice person how would you react if someone had been listening in on a private call. I think that all the cast did an excellent job.

I loved her acting in this film. I think she did a great job, besides the phone scene where she talks to her mother and Yuk see's her. That's about it though! Delta is fantastic. I wish she'd make some more movies.
