Question bout R rating

For those who have seen it. I just need to know how graphic the "sexuality" is in this film.

reply

No actual nudity that I recall. There is one couple who are seen about to have sex a couple of times, but the scene cuts before any real "action" starts. To be honest, I've seen sexuality as graphic as this in
PG-13 movies. I suspect it was just the sexuality ADDED TO the language that accounts for the R rating. It probably wouldn't have warranted an R on its own.

reply

Umm, the sex scene at the very end is relatively graphic, especially by US standards.

reply

Hey, our standards aren't THAT high. I mean, we don't put nudity in childrens' cartoons like SOME countries do, but most of us don't really get flustered by a 10 second sex scene with no sound that doesn't actually show anything.

reply

At the time of release, one of the last scenes of the couple making love and pausing to get a red blanket pushed the rating over to an R.

Another unrelated thought....the "red" blanket is another connection with the film Sixth Sense. With that being the case, then the empty room was a metaphor or an imagining of their acceptance of their son's problem, where they stop blaming themselves and get on with their lives. IMHO
