Underrated

I think this film is very underrated. I have a lot of respect for the fact it went for the controversial approach of post-9/11 New York. I also thought the film captured the essence of New York in a post-9/11 world while still being able to mix in some comedy to keep me interested. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I wish other directors would have the courage to produce more films like this one.

It is indeed underrated and the best evidence to that is how few posts are on this message board. There are many independent films where well-known starts like Maggie Gyllenhaal sing up to play for, I presume, less than their usual multi-million dollar fees - it is some kind of atonement, like playing on Broadway. Can someone recommend another film like this?

Amazingly, Danny Leiner, director of "TGNW" is also responsible for "Harold & Kumar doing White Castle" (but, wisely, not for the second one) - an outrageously funny stoner movie, which is completely different, but yet similarly clever and in some sense also underrated.
