martial arts in it? / no german, english release yet?
Don´t know where you guys saw the movie, in germany you can´t get it, also there is no english DVD available to buy.
Is there martial arts in the film? Does Dolph kick-asss?
Not really. The action is mainly with firearms, fast and frantic. It does have a few slick hand-to-hand moments though. They are more based in reality though. Everything done in a few hits. The action is realy good though. If you want DOlph kickin some ass check out Direct Action as a recent example.
shareaaaah direct action, if only that was available in the uk. it was available to rent but never got released properly on dvd. i want to see that one!
the defender has now been released in the uk on dvd and the quality is fine. dolph is a very good director and Mechanik and Missionary Man are even better directed. As the previous poster said, hand to hand is very sparse and it's more in the vein of Universal Soldier, hard hits over flamboyancy. Dolph consciously tries to play it that way more in films because he believes his stature would make him look stupid doing all those flash JCVD style kicks.
