shareUm, no and, sadly, no. Vikings were from northern Sweden. They actually conquered the Geats. And Beowulf is not the oldest story in Old English; it is the oldest survivling long POEM written in old english, and honestly we don't know who the author was (could have been many) so we don't know if he was English at all.
This is easily available info. If you're going to contradict someone, at least do a quick google search first. It could keep you from looking like a total tool. But, then again, probably not.
During the period the poem was set, the Svar had not yet conquered the Geats. The viking age would not start for almost another 200 years. Also, the Svar lived in what is now southern Sweden. Northern Sweden was so densely forested, it was uninhabitable. Also during the viking age, the area called Skaane, was considered part of Denmark.
