Don't understand ridiculous gymnastics...

Watching for the first time:

Why can Theron and her guide coolly cross the deadly "garden" doing all these superhuman moves? In THE MATRIX, one downloaded abilities..CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON was set in a sort of fantasy world, and at least the characters had (supposedly) devoted themselves to mastering a craft. But, why are somewhat "normal" citizens like these gals suddenly able to effortlessly whirl and tumble around like that?

I'm confused.
