Walking in hall

I'm curious who came up with the way Cooper and Phillipe walked down the hall together. I thought it was amazing how Cooper would move to his left to cut off and force Phillipe into the wall or have him walk into an object in the way. Cooper would just keep right on walking and preaching. Phillipe would apologize and the catch up.

I thought it really showed the arrogance, self righteousness and self centered aspect of Coopers character. Brilliant acting. Cooper is one of the best. Or was it Phillipe?

I was watching just the other day and noticed the same thing. I'd never caught that detail before! I wondered if it was showing how unobservant/obsessed/inconsiderate he was when he'd rattle on about work.

I'm glad to see activity on this board. For quite a while I feel like I'm the only one who still cares about the movie.

That's a brilliant scene. Shows Hanson's arrogance so subtly.

Ryan Phillippe said in an interview that the genuine Eric O'Neill, who was frequently on set, told Cooper that Hanssen would do that...walk slightly at an angle so that he would be pushed into the wall. Cooper responded with a big smile on his face and the scene was shot thusly. I too think it was a subtle way that Hanssen showed his arrogant disregard for O'Neill because I seriously doubt he did it to his superiors.

Love this interesting, captivating, well made film.

It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

Wow! I only noticed it one time. You learn a lot on these boards.

I always thought Hanssen did it to force Eric to walk slightly behind him, in a "lesser" or subordinate position, not next to him as equals not to make him bump against stuff.
