How does this work?

I was only able to catch the last 20 minutes of an episode but after reading various discriptions of the show, I am curious to know how they are supposed to fit on week into two, maybe three, seasons.

Is each episode one single moment that happens in a day and even if that were the case, this show would have a definate end, right?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next one.

Not quite. Each episode is one day in the life. There are seven episodes in a season, therefore each season represents one week. The two series/seasons so far produced are about a year apart, and represent two very different (but both calamitous for the family) weeks.
