Season 8 help : How did they do that?

I played Halo 3 campaign, and a little on line... I am trying to figure out how the filmed some of those fight scenes. It seemed to go well beyond the mechanics of the game. I know how they did some things using the Forge system... but for instance, episode 2, when they ran over Agent Washinton with the Warthog... How on earth did they film that?

A lot of the stuff they film is footage or post-filming editing techniques which they then layover the actual "machinima" film. Like when Caboose is looking out of the "ship's window" in Season 5.
