Never, cause practically every movie has been done. And most movies aren't that great. SO it will only get worse in the future.

Hahaha, not only can you tell that it's computer animation (you could tell, for example, parts of Jurassic Part were animated, so that's not too bad), the "wounds" to the raptors were totally unrealistic. A machine gun shot to the face of a raptor would result in "splotches" and then no actual wound, it looked hilarious. I literally laughed my ass off while watching.

But really, while that detracted from the movie (one can't entirely blame low budget movies/shows for having shitty CGI, imho), what really made it hilarious was the whole "team" that was there. First off, my goodness, their aim was horrible. I haven't held a gun in awhile and I know damn well that you, um, keep the gun pointed straight when you shoot something; this would explain, though, why people were dropping like flies and the raptors weren't actually dying like beings tend to do when a bullet goes into their skull. And secondly, the actors weren't even remotely like military at all, the closest person to seeming military was the "bad guy" who predictibly died in the end, and even he did some stupid stuff and had the "shooting straight" problem.

Jurassic Park 2 showed what happens when prehistoric animals encounter weapons. Raptor Island pretended prehistoric animals were totally invincible and that trained military can't shoot worth a damn.

Considering the movie on before it (Crocodile), Raptor Island looked like it should be up for an Academy Award ;)

Yes, the special effects were weak, but as a long time Dr. Who fan, I can't really complain about bad special effects. joshcryer pretty much hits all the low points. Let me add the "radioactive materials can do anything" meme out of 50's horror movies.

The only movie I can recall where soldiers actually *acted* like soldiers when they unexpectedly ran up against monsters was _Dog Soldiers_, and they were regular army, not special ops troops. BTW, they had grenades. Did they not have the budget to use them?

I only saw the end of "Crocodile" and it looked cheesy, but certainly not as bad as Raptor Island (to me).

And oh my god, yeah, grenades.

Remember that guy in the end (who inexpicibly went from not being able to walk to walking upright just fine overnight), who "sacrificed himself"? He had several grenades on his belt, I was *dumbstruck* when he just let himself die like that, especially momments after when it was realized that the swamp made the raptors stay away. A cheap explosive effect could've easily been used at least. Heck, reuse the (unrealistic) explosive effect used on the boat. How much could that have costed? But I digress.

ok honestly where they firing paintballs at the raptor or what? you see a red splotch but no wound? then the raptor gets shot hundreds of times before finally falling down? maybe it just got bored with the humans and decided to take a nap

The writers may have watched movies like _The Land That Time Forgot_ in their youth. IIRC, in that movie (and others like it), it was believed that dinosaurs wheren't only stupid but had very slow nervous systems -- a dino could take a fatal wound but it might be seconds before the brain recieved the message that it was dead.

And yes, this explaination *was* used in a movie from that era ...
