Mistake in Ike's uniform

It happens fairly often in movies, but the "US" brass on each collar of Ike's uniform jacket is improperly attached (for example when he is briefing the King and Queen). The "US", then as now, is to be attached perpendicular to the line that bisects the angle of the collar point, not parallel to one edge of the collar.

What about the "bloused " pants Ike wore when getting out of the car to visit with the 101st airborne? I have never seen a picture of him wearing his pants like that. Almost looked like they were bloused with socks. can anyone confirm that that is how he would have worn his trousers?

reply

His pants were bloused in to gaiters, but strange to see a general wearing them. Not many infantry were still wearing them by that time. I looked up the famous picture of him talking to the troopers and he's got straight leg trousers.

They are not gaiters/leggings. They are Putties which were used in WW1 and by the British. They are a long piece of material wrapped around the trouser leg and secured. If Eisenhower did have them he just borrowed them since he was going into possible muddy areas for his troop visit.

That may be the uniform rule but I have many photos of Eisenhower in uniform with the "US" insignia parallel and close to the lower edge and then slightly canted and farther away from the lower edge in others.
