Is there a chance for Oscar?

Well I saw Horem Padem many months ago and I think that mr. Hrebejk (director) and mr. Jarchovsky (screenwriter) describe real situation of rasist problem in Czech Republic (I am czech so I know that) and it could be understandable for (not only) american public. But there is a one big question for people of Czech Republic. Do we have a chance to win the Oscar this year? Well, I think that there IS a chance but I didn´t see competitive films, yet but anyway...what do you think?

No chance at all!

There's a slim one.

I don't want to make you sad, but no chance.
But keep your head up, even Hitchcock never got one for directiong :)
Oscar is the statement of the very present, in fact, it rarely makes the best choice from a long distance in time

I heard that Horem padem will not be nominated for Oscar. They nominated other czech movie Sileni.

Sorry, but I found this question amusing. Maybe you have to live outside U.S. & Canada to appreciate that the Oscars are a joke, full of glitz and obnoxious flair signifying very little. The vaunted academy is a haven for 'safe' judgments. Harem Padem is a brilliant film that daringly explores 'forbidden' topics, and I was relieved that it WASN'T nominated.
