The trailer (as I recall) doesn't have much to do with the main story at all. I got the movie based on the trailer, and then sat there thinking "this isn't what the trailer said...."
There are two completely unrelated incongruous parts to this film. Part of it is about a couple of goons who hustle people across the border, find themselves with a baby leftover, and the story of what happens to the baby. (That's all in the trailer.) The other (more major part) is about this screwed up family...long lost brother, old relationships no one talks about, etc. The two stories are very tenuously linked by one character who is a counselor to the refugee whose baby went missing.
It was like someone had two story ideas, but niether was enough for a whole movie, so someone else said "eh, what the heck. just put them together."
