Not enough blood....

The flashback scenes for the sister's suicide showed the razor and a little blood, but there was nowhere near enough blood for that to be the cause of death. Did I miss some mention of an overdose? I don't know why the people making this would have skimped on blood, but you lose more in a donation than the amount on that bed and by the razor.
