1)Who is that woman in the dream sequence or whatever when he climbs the stairs?
He rests his head on her shoulder, then she walks away disappearing like a ghost. I initially thought it was a dream telling him his Mom had died, but this wasn't the case.

2)Why did his Dad and Mom have to sign a release for the sex change? Wasnt Toom over 18? Was this done for dramatic effect, or are the laws in Thailand different?

3)I guess the story is pretty accurate to RL, heres some more info on the real transsexual:

As to No. 1 - my guess is that this dream woman represents him - his idea of who he really is inside and she disappears (like his dream of becoming a woman is just a glimmer since he was so discouraged at that point in his life)

2) In Thailand, the age of consent for a sex change operation is 20. Thoom had her change done in 1999 when she would have been 18 or so (since she was born in 1981).
