i dont think so, to throw a fight doesn't necessarily mean he was in love with pi nat. i thought he just took the dive because his friend needed the money and he was a good friend to him so he couldn't say no. nong toom's character is very gentle and kind hearted, he really wasn't about the muay thai or the money in comparison to pi nat. he merely did it to make a living but more so to pay for his sex operation.
