Most Boring Anim / Manga / CG Film Ever?

I found this film very boring.
However I do like lot's of other Manga titles such as Ninja Scroll, Fist Of The North Star, Street Fighter II. Even Akira was more enjoyable than this.

Which other films should I watch out for and not bother wasting my time on? Stuff like Ghost In The Shell.

This movie was made for experts who appreciate anime, not action diggers. Anyway, Masamune Shirow made Ghost in the Shell, and the original Appleseed. This Appleseed is no different from the original.

I liked it. Visually it was stunning. It had some good action thrown in. Predictable stuff, but then, most films are these days.

If you don't appreciate Ghost in The Shell, I doubt you should be watching anime at all. I recommend all the new Hollywood productions like Elektra, Underworld, Ultraviolet and several hundred Matrix look-a-likes.

Sounds like that's more your thing...

This movie is far from being boring. Action sequences and intriguing plot save it from tedium.

Hmmmm...

Alright, the CGI, yeah it was pretty inventive, but personally I just though the characters were too 2D, there wasn't any depth too them. everyone's boasting about how artistic it is when I think its the complete opposite, I thought that it was just another pop culture movie made with western ideas of trend and cool. There is definatley a diference between this and the original, I loved the orginal, it was the very first manga I ever saw, a good story with tense action and depth. But with this I could see everything coming from a mile away, it wasn't anything inventive, it was just done to show off the graphics, and even then I thought that the character animations stood out too much from the CGI background, the highpoint was the battle at the end, that was good and exhillarating, but I just can't shrug off the feeling that that's all this film wa made for.

Better film to watch with great CGI used effectivley for action, Final fantasy: Advent Children.

Ghost in the Shell 2 has some amazing artwork and scenes with a really interesting story, though it does get a bit too complicated, fantastic film though.

Finally as well the manga metropolis, again amazing artwork and well executed plot, a fun, entertaining and visually stunning film.

what is this?? tooo 2d?? I thought these characters were very deep... you have to watch it a couple of times... it was much deeper than the first one, in terms of learning about the characters... the first one was a good classic double spy action movie. this one is about the prevention of the appleseed data... two completely different stories, one's a little artsier than the other.... advent children bored the crap out of me, apart from the action less scenes, oddly enough.

ghost in the shell 2 is another one you have to watch a couple of times to follow... remember, just because a point is not implied, doesn't mean it's not there...

anyway... alittle insight from my point of view..... ;)

Haha, that is one of the funniest things I've ever read.
Dissing both Akira and Ghost in the Shell in one go, you should probably not watch anything other than action movies featuring Steven Seagal or Van Damme...

Myself I loved Appleseed and was amused when I realised it went straight to DVD here in Norway (and I think most other countries as well?), and never was shown in theatres other than a special showing at this small movie festival in Oslo.

If you dont rate the classic Akira then you clearly have no understanding of what Manga is all about. Appleseed is probably not the best anime ever made, but it is the most fast paced, action packed anime that has been made, so if you find that boring then obviously you must only like mindless action films with no plot whatsoever.

The movies starting out boring. And it seemed to be aimed at a younger generation. The first battle-scene was so boring... wow! she did a flip and is like ultra-cool. Dare I say aimed at nerds? With the whole chick with guns and big macho machinery, and guns, lots of guns. The film only took off much later in the movie, and even then it wasn't holding my full attention.

Heh, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. "Dead Leaves" is far more action packed (and insane) than this flick.

No hard feelings towards Appleseed, I just felt like the "actors" over-acted even though it's CGI.

Actually I find most anime boring and cheesy...too much emotion and too many skeletons in the closet of the main characters (sometimes even the other minor characters). This adds so many unwanted minutes to the movie. Appleseed is like an hour and forty five minutes long!! Why? They could've made things shorter and crispier. Everything in Manga and anime are excessively drawn out. The one anime I really liked was "Grave of the fireflies". It was straight forward, with simple characters and was genuinely touching. Otherwise all other anime have the same premise for the characters and the plot--Protect loved ones/ prove oneself/ power ups/ demons (or such like)/ cyborgs e.t.c. Liked 'Fullmetal Alchemist' for this one reason; it didn't have the above mentioned traits. And even 'Blood+' I guess.

Anime usually have great artwork and amazing action sequences. But that's about it. The plot usually never holds true to the initial exciting build up; as in the case with Appleseed here (and countless others). Hope they think a little beyond what they usually think about. Or maybe they should just keep things simple.

I watched the original long ago and I wasn't bored by it. It's not a favorite, though.

Just watched it, and kinda agree. Tedious as hell and really far from Ghost in the shell's level.
