Like what, a person who approaches situations with logic and rational thought?
What is sad? Perhaps it is sad that I see no need in discussing useless, baseless hypotheticals, or that I understand that affordable electricity (and the economy as a whole) is essential to our high quality-of-life lives. I know that "shutting down the economy" would sign a death warrant for much of the poor in the US and the world, for a thriving economy is what keeps food in their mouths, clothes on their backs, and heat in their homes. Is it sad that I realize this?
Maybe it is sad that I don't view native american society as highly as people like you who look at it with blinders on. You only see the good in how they lived, and you have decided to ignore the bad that goes hand in hand with it. There are lots of things to admire about native american history and culture (keep in mind that I am part native american), but there are lots of things in thier past that are less than admirable. Many tribes traded women like commodities, waged frequent wars with their neighbors, engaged in torture, celebrated violence, and were run by a warrior class. Those are hardly things we should aspire to emulate.
But don't let that stop you from mumbling about how evil the modern economy is. You can still do that when you aren't sleeping in your modern bed, taking medecine, recouperating in a hospital, eating food that was grown more than a hundred miles from your home, driving in your car, adjusting the climate control in your home, visiting a friend or family member who has lived past 40, or using your computer to post on the internet. Heck, that's what free time is for (oh wait, we have more free time than anyone who came before us thanks to the modern economy too...).
