Inaccurate but fantastic

Dale Earnhardt is dead. He is the greatest legacy of our sport. Anyone can see this by visiting a track on race weekend, it is not uncommon to have to wait longer to make it to the front of the line at Dale Earnhardts trailer than when you are in line for other big name drivers such as Bobby Labonte and Jimmie Johnson. This proves that we all still love Dale.

That makes it very hard for NASCAR fans to accept a movie like 3, because Barry Pepper is not Dale Earnhardt. No one is. 3 is not meant to document every intricacy of The Intimidators life, but to portray the story of one of the strongest men of all time.

Granted, I was driven crazy by how many times they tried to "foreshadow" Dale's death on the race track. By the end they were SHOVING IT DOWN OUR THROATS and not foreshadowing. But the movie was good.

As a NASCAR fan I know that this wasn't completely accurate. But, in many ways it was. This movie has a way of representing Dale's relationship with Ralph in a way that fans can understand exactly why he drove like he did and acted like he did. It made me respect his relationship with Teresa, someone who developed him into a NASCAR driver and profitable item.

But mostly, it showed how Dale valued family over everything(even racing). It showed the Intimidator in a form that we rarely see. A father and husband.

See 3, not for factual value. But for the family affair.
