Based on a true story.

SPOILER ALERT

This could be based on a true story of a man who ran an amusement park owned by his parents. As he was running to save the girl he stumbled and hit his head. Someone else grabbed the girl out of the way. In a wizard of Oz kind of way he came to, resting on a hospital bed after starting to recover from a concussion. He is told the girl is just fine.

He finds out no one was in the hut and his army buddy flew in to encourage him to live and wake up. His wife was there too. Their lovely home was waiting on him and his kids were waiting to give a surprise party like he has never seen before.

The ride manufacture had to pay for damages. This meant Eddie didn't have to sell the amusement park his mom and dad worked and paid for. The same park Eddie grew up in while having the most loving and wonderful childhood one can think of having.

Of course they had to change some of these things to make the book interesting and the movie sell to the public.

His real name wasn't Eddie, but you can find out all of this on the Internet.
