wow, Boll did a... good film?

EDIT: My original post is below, but I'm gonna stick this up here now. I'd never thought I'd defend Uwe Boll, but looking at the fact that 36% of people rated this 1 out of 10, the ammount of hating towards this film going on on this board simply because of Boll made it, and the fact that if this film was exactly the same, but by a different director and wasn't called "farcry" none of you would be bitching this much.

You people are generally sad examples of human life trying to put someone down for no other reason then feeling better about yourselves. Honestly this is just pathetic, flame Uwe Boll as much as you like, but at least have the good decency to watch a film before pretending to be a critic of it. You actually hate a guy you've never met enough to come here and start posting negetivly about a film you've never seen? I'm just imagining groups of fat nerds right now all upset that they're game didn't get steven spielberg or something. Get some lives people.

=======================================

The last boll film I've seen was alone in the dark... hence why it was the last I saw, couldn't even finish it... dunno how someone makes a dull horror film but there you go.

So anyway I watched this crossing my fingers he'd somehow manage to pull it off and... he kinda did. I mean there were moments in this film that had me kinda face-palming, but hey it's Boll, gotta cut him some slack.

However the action scenes and the casting was pretty much dead on, if we ignore the german accent (one of those "give him some slack" things). I would have liked to see the trigen rather then these genetically engeneered humans, but the creatures jumping around near the end definetly resembled the ones from the game. The parkour style chase was done brilliantly, I was actually shocked that was Boll.

Also, it had a kinda levity to it that just made it fun to watch. The films definetly not anything to write home about, but hell, it's fun, if it ended up on TV I sure wouldn't mind sitting around with a few friends watching it, and thats something I wouldn't have said about any Uwe Boll film in the past. I'd say people rating this film badly simply due to Boll (and there's lots of you), really need to get over themselves and thier need to put other people down.

Having known what to expect from a Uwe film, it wasn't that bad. For a regular film, it was bad. For a B movie, it was okay. For being a Uwe Boll film it was good. I was entertained enough to watch the whole thing. I know all the fan boys will attack my opinion because each fan boy has his own idea how their favorite video game should be made into a movie not realizing that they're probably the only person who would like it. To be honest, I would like to see any of Uwe's haters go out, make a movie, & on top of that get a good review on IMDB. Good luck. It's a tough business. Every fanboy hated that Dragonball movie because it wasn't like the cartoon. Not being like the cartoon was the best part of the movie (or at least of the 30 minutes I saw).

Totally agree. For a low budget B-movie flick, the movie is suprisingly solid. It if was Baysized with a $300 million budget, I bet it would be glorified by the same guys that are spitting on it, just like all the other POS Michael Bay movies...

reply

wow the intelligence of these forums, Michael Bay has a much better style with CAMERA/Lighting/Sound/Editing the budget doesn't = better camera/lighting/sound/ or editing those are all skill.

Uwe Boll fails in every single lvl. Michael Bay doesn't, only a fool would say the BS you just have.

" the budget doesn't = better camera/lighting/sound/ or editing "

Actually; yes it does - You can pay for better people to do those jobs, thus you get 'better'... Sure; you get some people who are good, and don't cost the earth, but they are far and few between - You think that Avatar would have been anywhere as good (for good - read 'popular') with a sub-par SFX department (Just as an example - You pay what you get for, most of the time.)

(For that matter - I didn't realise Michael Bay was a sound technician and also dabbled in lighting and camera work.. I wonder why they get specialists in, if he can do it all!? - Now that WOULD cut down on production costs!)

Good shout man, I got this in the post this moring and was annoyed because I defo don't remember adding it to my queue, but decided to watch it anyway before I sent it back.

I think you made a good point on the Haters hating it because of who was involved rather than judging the film itself. I was certainly preparing myself to hate the film. but I have to admit, I didn't think it was all that bad. Now I gave it a 4/10 si I'm not saying it was great, but I don't think it was a 1 star film, not by a long shot!!

hard to believe. Uwe Boll (so far) <> good movie
his concept of "tropical island" in far cry kicked really hard my balls

To the OP: Maybe people actually didn't like the movie. You assume that everyone that rated it poorly only did it because it was a Boll film. I watched it last night and it was a piece of crap. I couldn't even sit throught till the end it was so bad. But I did watch a good hour of the film. From the very beginning it was obvious this was gonna be another Boll stinker. And sure enough it was. Sure it wasn't House of the Dead or Alone in the Dark, but it was still a garbage movie. Don't tell someone how to rate it because you don't think it deserves a 1.

I watched 'Far Cry' after I was impressed with 'Postal'. I never thought I'd say this, but I do think Uwe Boll is getting better at directing as time goes on. I have yet to watch 'Rampage' or 'Tunnel Rats', but I'm really interested in checking them out. I never thought I'd say that about Uwe Boll films, lol.

Slowly but surely I'm becoming a fan after watching 'Postal' and 'Far Cry'.

reply

Rampage was terrible IMO so brace yourself. If your a veteran Boll watcher though you should already be ready for it.

I agree. This is just sad. Maybe these people had mothers that didn't love them. I can't explain it.

The film was poor but really not that bad.
