Low rating

O.K. it´s been a long time ago since I´ve lost my ideals about IMDB rating but still I can not quite understand the low rating of this movie.

I can not find the reasons. I personally think that this movie should be somewhere around 8. Average people don´t watch movies like these. I think that only deep movie fans and "art/independent cinema" visitors watch movies like these. Also the low number of ratings proves my theory. And such people in my opinion should be able to recognize the qualities here. It´s such a nice cinematography combined with wonderful music ... no story needed, it´s pure art trying to give us the message. Yes, it has few flaws but come on ... it´s way above average.

Could anyone help me here ? I really don´t understand why people don´t see it. All my friends loved this movie. Or am I the one who´s missing something ?

Well, the fact that similar movies had been made in the past ( most notably Baraka and Qatsi films ) is trully the major reason why Dogora failed in some ways to attract people. I also believe that Dogora, despite having great cinematography, lacks an artistic side that other similar films have been able to implement. Dogora is mostly about showcasing a specific country while other movies like Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi and Baraka deliver a message to the viewer. Overall, Dogora is still a nice little film, however.
