Animal Killing
Why did Mattei have to actually kill that lizard? (I'm not actually sure what it was)...I was totally digging the movie up until then but WTF, it's 2003 (then), isn't that sh!t illegal now? I know the movie was filmed in the Philippines and I'm sure what Claudio Morales' character was eating on the shish-kabob were chunks of meat of that lizard but still, they couldn't have at least killed it in a more humane way instead of slowly slitting it's throat, disemboweling it and then skinning it alive. Damn. I'm positive this is the reason you can't find this movie on Amazon.com. I couldn't find it anywhere. I had to end up downloading it. Plus it's dubbed in english so it's definitely marketable to an english speaking audience so I'm guessing the hold up must be the animal snuff. I'm sure there must be some sort of legal issue by now, it's been over 20 years since we've last seen that kind of stuff, at least on that kind of brutal level displayed here. It's one thing for Michael Moore or Jörg Buttgereit to show a rabbit be skinned but Bruno really tried hard to be cruel.
But why did he have to do it, if it was Bruno's idea? This isn't the 70's anymore when greedy producers didn't know any better.
Has anyone heard any comments on this subject that Bruno Mattei may have made on this matter? I'd love to hear him try and explain himself.
Still a good movie though.
