something thats been bothering me
after augustin left the roadblock where xavier was killed, what happened to all those people that got in the car with them to follow the UN trucks? did they get killed off-camera?
shareUnfortunately, it's likely that most of them were murdered...a small number of them could have succeeded in bribing and/or distracting a roadblock leader and eventually made an escape, but most Tutsis, moderate Hutus or those without identity cards would have been mercilessly killed. It seems as if the civilian mobs and the Interahamwe fighters were frequently more vicious than the Rwandan army soldiers and really internalized the Hutu Power ideology.
