What other Movies, set in Africa, would you recommend?

Was just wondering about other movies set in Africa. Are there others you can recommend? Others not set in Rwanda perhaps (i seem to have seen the majority already). Thanks.

There's the The Last King of Scotland and if you like comedy, there's La vie est belle with the famous Zairian musician Papa Wemba. The movie is in French but I am sure you could find it with English subtitles. I am recommending a comedy because I don't want you to feel depressed after watching too much African tragedies :)

Last King is great! Black Hawk Down is a good modern war movie.

As for Rwanda, Shake Hands with the Devil (2007) is the best picture by far... check it out

"Lumumba", also by Raoul Peck. the low budget "Frontières/Borders" is also interesting as it follows a handful of immigrants from Senegal up to Morocco. the goal is to reach Europe. But complications ensue...

Go get a movie called 'Shooting Dogs'. MAKE SURE its not the documentary. The movie shooting dogs is a serious eye-opener as well. Trust me you will not be disappointed. Its also based on true events (duh), and its filming location is right where the major event in the movie happened in real life.
