Censorship!

I live in France and occasionally we get this show in English with French subitites. In the episode where they talk about the hazing and performing the oral sex on the track team boys, when the girl talks about how she got herpes, the subtitles were saying that she found a picture of her naked on the Internet. Every time the subject if the girl's herpes game up, the subtitles were talking about a random picture on the Internet. It surprised me that the French would censor such an important subject as STDs.

What do you all think?

Thats crazy! Another canadian show degrassi, they play it here but i heard in america they edit out alot of stuff. I didnt think that it would be like that in france. Like u said topics like std's are important they shouldnt be censored like that.

I'm sorry that the other countries that get to watch our fine programs have to miss out on things like that.

i agree..i dont' know why they edit out so much of the content..

like even american shows...sex in the city...when it aired on hbo or whatever it is, it aired warts and all, yet when it was picked up for syndication..they took it down to a half an hour....and edited out so much stuff, they said it was because it was on another network...and that, but the show would air during the night like oh let's say 1 a.m......so why the worry at that time of night....

Well here in Canada anything pretty much goes and is shown here. Like someone said on Degrassi they cut some stuff out that dealt with gay relationships and and in ure case that episode with the hazing and oral sex nd stuff. I guess it's not fair to other countries but we're probably more laid back here and we make television shows about everything and anything and it gets shown

although i never watched trailer park guys....i had heard that before it was allowed to air in the US that alot of the stuff had to be reworked.......so yeah it happens...we get it like it should be seen, yet other countries, especially the US..does not...

i understand why the US....lol..they do not like pushing the envelop so to speak..but france, i definately do not understand...why they don't show it Pun sorry, warts and all

Canada is one of the most liberal countries in the world though.. So, I'm not surprised other countries censor it, considering they air shows about anything and everything in Canada;)

i agree...i've seen movies here air at 8, and they don't take out the bad stuff....like i've seen teh butts of roy dupuis, and paul gross, and a few others, where i'm sure that you guys that pick up thier shows or movies do not.

but you know what, i'm noticing that we're doing it here as well.....a movie will air at 8, and you can tell which word has been changed, and all that.....so we are tending to follow the US on some senses..
