Boring and stupid movie

I love crappy movies. I like kitschy films. Troma films are dear to my heart.

I rented this DVD expecting to see some good cheesy horror movie fun and zombie schlock.

This film has none of that. When a film is this bad, it can still have some appeal if it has a knowing wink about how bad it is. But no, this film takes itself very seriously.

Everything about this movie was done poorly. There is no humor. There is no camp. There is no kitsch value. There's no "it's so bad it's good." It's a boring and nonsensical rambling plot about two characters who the audience doesn't care about.

I'm not going to be like the other posters who point out plot holes, because as a bad movie fan, I'm used to them. But let's just say this movie is full of things that make no sense.

The female lead, Tracy Coogan, could not keep a consistent accent through the movie. It shifts between Californian, Canadian, Irish and English.

The bottom line: This movie holds no appeal for anyone, even bad movie, horror movie or zombie movie buffs.

I dont think there was supposed to be humor or camp, its not supposed to be "so bad its good". Its a straight forward romance with zombie overtones. Nonsensical? The story was quite clear and simple and I cared about the characters.

I quite enjoyed the film. What would you do if he person you loved became something out of his/her control? How would you react to the situation?

Maybe they should habe throw some slapstick in for the kiddies so they wont get bored.

"Zombie Honeymoon" is a sure-footed and genre-melding delight, and it's one of the true highlights of the 2005 Slamdance Film Festival. Against all normal odds, it's equal parts funny and sweet, gruesome and ghastly. For a horror movie, it has a lot of sincerely hewn heart and emotion; for a romance, it's got a lot of nasty gristle and zombie-chomp mayhem. For those who like their genres combined in cool and confident fashion, I recommend searching this one out as soon as you can.

Well, I can tell you what I wouldn't do if I discovered my new spouse eating someone in the bath tub. I would not immediately go outside on the deck and remember my wedding vows.

That's the problem. No real person would ever react that way, so the film would have been better off being over-the-top unrealistic. But instead it takes itself seriously.

Also, when someone dies but suddenly comes back to life, they are not released from the hospital a few hours later. I'm not a doctor, but I do believe if someone's heart stops, they are at least kept overnight in the hospital.

I'd also like to know how he got his roommate's head home when he was not seen carrying anything which could have contained the head when he left the hospital.

I know I said I wouldn't point out the plot holes in this movie, but those are some examples of completely nonsensical things that occur, which would have been fine if the director went with a campy B-movie tone instead of some sort of serious character study about what a new bride who struggles to maintain her marriage to a monster.

"Maybe they should habe throw some slapstick in for the kiddies so they wont get bored."

There was slapstick, like when he showed up at the door with the travel agent's arm. But after being so serious, that slapstick moment was too late and seemed tacked on without fitting the rest of the movie's tone.

'Zombie Honeymoon' is an amateur mess.

It would be a shame to allow reviews posted on this site to persuade you one way or the other. Check it out yourself and make up your own mind because the reviews are very mixed:)

I don't think this is the best movie ever but it's surely not as terrible as you described. I reccomend this movie to everyone because it's a change of pace from the same b-movie zombie slapstick *beep* that's put out every other day.

go back to watching you're b-movie dog crap and get off this board.

why did the government not know about a zombie killing every one

the movie was decent in bits but imo it falls just below a 5/10 its gory in bits but like some of the other posters said its hard too believe anyone would react that way esp if he was eating your best friends

I'm waiting for "Zombie Easter Brunch"; that should be delicious.

I can totally agree. Usually I love the type of movies you described. This movie sounded interesting but was boring. I am only half way through watching and already changed the channel. I totally can't believe this movie has a rating of 5.3. I would have thought it would have been lower.

It seems I am in the minority here, but I liked it. OK, it goes overboard and is unrealistic. But if you can overcome the part about her staying with him despite him being a zombie (and this is not a stretch to do with a horror film) it creates an interesting dynamic. I agree with one of the critic reviews which said it is both romantic and gruesome. There is a scene in Slither where the lovers have a touching moment after he has transormed into the creature. There is sill some connection but nothing can come of it because he is now a beast. This film plays on that type of dynamic well IMO

I wouldn't go crazy, but I'd definitely give it a 6 or 7.

I think it's better than at least 75% of the hollywood crap they call horror.

Thank God!! I thought I was unculture and unrefined and generally missed the point of some great work of art. I feel so much better. The OP is my kind of person, a crappy movie lover. This was a waste time, not a crappy movie
