Loved Stupidity

Stupidity is the kind of movie you either get or you don't.
Kind of depends what side of the debate you're on.
That's why it's been a big hit in some places.
I loved it because to me it's the first doc that comes out and says people really work at being ignorant.

reply

of course they do...

after 9/11, i asked my mother in law if she was at all interested in knowing why it happened. she replied, "no, i just want them all dead".

reply

that's a really nice story. ignorance is bliss i suppose.

reply

or she could have just wanted to avoid a fight. goat94 is probably one of those smug student morons who thinks 9/11 was an inside job, or was all the USA's fault.

reply

goat94 is Ward Churchill?

You don't have to be much to 'get' this movie. It's a bunch of rambling from various people (the real intellectuals got the shortest screen time), most of which consists of extremely obvious statements about the nature of stupidity.

How about the quest to find the lowest common denominator?

Adam Sandler:
Playing Dumb

Lowest Common Denominator?
- Negative -

Wow! What a dramatic way to present something as insightful and as unapparent as the notion that Adam Sandler is only playing a dumb person! Thanks for that 4 minute investigation and the brilliant concluding statement that reveals this fact, from comedian Lea Delaria:

"Oh, Adam Sandler is a very smart guy.. and actually some of this stuff that he does is quite smart.. it's just that you have to keep the smart level down here or something where.. you know."

When it comes to shows that cater to the lowest common denominator, I'd have to rank this one among the top when it comes to documentaries!

Reading philosophous2k's comment made me think of all those smart stupid people they talked about in the film. did you notice that the film began by saying "this film was made by idiots."

i think part of the film's point is that many so called smart people are sometimes entertained by shows (or documentaries) that cater to the "lowest common denominator."

i agree that it wasn't the most profound documentary i've seen, but i'm not going to get self-righteous about it and claim that it caters to the lowest common denominator. in fact, i thought its style was deliberate. how could this movie let chomsky talk for more than a minute?

but what do i know. i like fart jokes.

It was made somehow like MTV programs, the way I hate. And that is quite paradoxal because they wanted to show for example, how stupid tv-shows can be but this program itself was full of blank, pointless jumping around and wasting of time without concentrating on anything.
Only my opinion.

It's a load of horsedung

"Stupidity" has no real focus on anything. It has a load of thesies but sadly no arguments to back them up. And yes it was a pain in the ass to watch the "mtv" footage.

liked it

reply

Yeah I got some of it, but other parts I didn't get so much.
